The National Science Foundation has awarded a $99,786 planning grant that will allow a TWU research team to develop strategies to recruit and retain more Indigenous students in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) disciplines.

Five Texas Woman’s kinesiology seniors turned classroom theories into a real-world device by competing in the November 17-18. The TWU Athena V team, the first all-female TWU team to enter the competition and the only all-female team competing, placed fourth overall.

Hansen-Thomas and Stewart are co-directors of two federal grants from the U.S. Department of Education aimed at supporting emergent bilingual students. They also have authored and edited multiple books, including Transforming Practices for the High School Classroom with TESOL Press.
